It has been rumoured for a while now that SEGA would move into the online gambling industry but it is now official after SEGA released a press release yesterday stating that segacasino.com and segapoker.com will be going ahead with additional gambling sites potentially arriving later in 2010. This move is likely to come under heavy criticism as a large portion of SEGA’s target demographic are under the legal gambling age and many will see this as a move to plant the gambling seed early in the minds of their young audience. This new avenue of business is likely to make a huge amount of money for the company, could we see these profits invested in a new console? Well I certainly think its about time.
